Sprint Tasks

✓ Professional Development

During sprint 14, this professional development activity focuses on project closure and team reflection at the conclusion of a year-long project.

When: Professional Development Due on Gradescope by Wed, Apr 22, 2026 @ 11:59 PM ET. Late work will not be accepted.

1. Project Closing

Why: Preparing for project closure is an important professional skill. This activity helps you think intentionally about project handover and closure while practicing professional communication through writing thoughtful thank-you letters to those who supported your work.

What: Review the provided articles on project handover and project closure, as well as guidance on writing meaningful thank-you letters. Apply these readings by responding to the provided prompts about your project and by writing a thank-you letter addressed to your mentor(s) and to your TA or a Data Mine staff member.

2. Team Development Reflection (Tuckman’s Review)

Why: Understanding team development helps you recognize how teams evolve over time and how collaboration, conflict, and performance change across different stages. Reflecting on your team’s experience supports self-awareness and prepares you for future team-based professional work.

What: Review the provided article Using the Stages of Team Development. Then complete a written reflection addressing how your team progressed through the Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing, and Adjourning stages over the course of your year-long project, using the provided prompts.

✓ Sprint Report

Why: We use Qualtrics to collect final report responses so submissions can be easily organized, analyzed, and aggregated by team. This allows us to review responses efficiently and ensure all submissions are properly recorded. After submitting, you will receive a confirmation email with your responses as proof that your report was received. If you do not receive a confirmation email, your submission was not received (or your email was entered incorrectly), so please contact us.

What: For Sprint #14, share your experience in The Data Mine, provide feedback, and write your mentor(s) a thank you note via Qualtrics. You will be graded on effort and completion. Honesty is appreciated so we can continue to improve The Data Mine Corporate Partners.
